Louis Hartlooper Complex
This former police station is now a cinema. The complex is named after Louis Hartlooper who in the early 20th century worked as explicator for ‘silent’ films in various Utrecht cinemas. An explicator ‘explained’ what was happening on screen and according to legend Louis Hartlooper mastered his craft to perfection: with his vivid imagination he was very popular with the public.
The cinema keeps the explanatory work of Louis Hartlooper alive: an explicator introduces the movie being shown.
The Louis Hartlooper Complex also houses a cafe and restaurant. Grab a bite or snack at several cozy old-fashioned rooms.
